Summer Friendly Yard Inspiration

Do you have a green thumb? Well, whatever the shade of your first digit, April and May just so happen to be the perfect time to plant some colorful blooms and brighten up that curb appeal.

Picking the right blooms that won't burn up

In our area of Florida, we're spoiled for choice when it comes to flower options. Here are a few favorites that'll thrive wonderfully in full sun.

  • Hibiscus: These babies are practically the unofficial mascot of Florida. With their big, bold blooms in shades of red, pink, and orange, they add a tropical vibe to any garden.

  • Bougainvillea: Want to make a statement? Bougainvillea is your go-to. With its vibrant, paper-thin petals in hues of magenta, purple, and orange, it's like a fiesta in flower form.

  • Plumeria: If you're all about those sweet scents, plumeria is where it's at. These beauties not only look stunning with their star-shaped flowers but also fill the air with their intoxicating fragrance.

  • Geraniums: Looking for something low-maintenance? Geraniums are your best bet. They come in a variety of colors and are tough enough to handle our Florida heat.

How to keep your plants colorful and your thumb green

  • Water Wisely: With the temps rising, your plants will need a good drink. Water them deeply but less frequently to encourage strong roots.

  • Feed 'Em Right: Consider adding some compost to your soil to give your plants a nutrient boost. You can make your own or buy it at any garden center.

Let's Get Gardening!

Feeling ready? Roll up your sleeves, grab your gardening gloves, and let's make our corner of Tampa Bay a little more beautiful, one bloom at a time!
